Iranian presidential election, October 1981

The Iranian presidential elections in October 1981 took place on October 2, 1981.

The elections were necessary because the elected on July 24, 1981 President (see: elections in July ) Mohammad Alī ʾ ī Raja on August 30 of that year a bomb blast in the office of the Prime Minister, Mohammad Javad Bahonar fell victim. The election was won by the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini favored by Hodschatoleslam Ali Chamene'i abundantly clear. Chamene'i Khomeini's successor in 1989 and has since revolutionary leader. The turnout was 74.26 %.
