Iraqi Kurdistan national football team

The Kurdish football team is one not recognized by the international football federation FIFA and AFC selection. The Kurdish football team is the official football team of the Kurdistan Autonomous Region. Since Kurdistan is no AFC and FIFA member, they can not participate in the Asian Championships and World Championships.

History

When Viva World Cup 2008 in Sweden, an alternative event to the official World Cup, the team reached the fourth place after a 3-1 defeat in the 3rd place match against Lapland. Your first and only victory celebrated the Kurds in that tournament in the game against the Provence.

In December 2008, during the 5th General Assembly, Kurdistan has been granted full membership in the NF- Board. 2011 was the Kurdistan Autonomous Region hosts the Viva World Cup.

When Viva World Cup in Italy in 2009 the Kurdish football team second in the tournament. In the semifinals, the Kurds defeated the Provence 6-0 and in the finals they lost against Padania 0-2.

When Viva World Cup 2010 in Malta, the Kurdish football team was again second in the tournament. In the semifinals, the Kurds Occitania defeated 2-1 in the finals they lost against Padania 0:1.

2012 finally she could win the tournament for the first time by the crew of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus defeated in the finals 2-1.
