Irena Kwiatkowska

Irena Kwiatkowska ( born September 17, 1912 in Warsaw; † 3 March 2011 Konstancin- Jeziorna ) was a Polish actress.

Life

Irena Kwiatkowska finished her acting training in 1935 at the State Drama School in Warsaw. Then she made her debut at the Warsaw Theater Cyrulik Warszawski. Until the outbreak of World War II she was a member at the theaters Powszechny in Warsaw, Teatr Nowy Teatr Polski in Poznan and Katowice.

During the war, Kwiatkowska was a member of the Polish Home Army and fought in the Warsaw Uprising.

After the war, Irena Kwiatkowska joined the Krakow Cabaret at Seven cats. From October 1959 to July 1966 she appeared in the successful mission of the early years of the Polish television, the " Cabaret of older men " ( cabaret starszych Panov ), on - mostly as spirited Countess Tyłbaczewska. In addition to her theater work at the Warsaw stage and the cabaret they reached their greatest popularity as a working woman in the television series 40 - latek (the forties ), directed by Jerzy Gruza in the 1970s. At the turn of the millennium, the weekly magazine Polityka conducted a survey of the most important Polish actors of the effluent century. Irena Kwiatkowska came on this poll to 5th place.

At the request of the children, she received the International Award as a Cavalier of the Order of the Smile.
