Irene Bowder Peacock
Evelyn Irene Peacock ( born July 27, 1892 as Irene Browder, † June 13, 1978 ) was a South African tennis player in the 1920s.
Career
Peacock reached the final of the 1921 British Indoor Championships, but lost this Dorothy Holman in three sets. They celebrated their biggest success in 1927 when they at the French Tennis Championships (now the French Open ) won the women's doubles with her compatriot Bobbie Heine. They defeated Peggy Saunders and Phoebe Holcroft Watson in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. In individual they also reached the final, but was defeated by the Dutch Kea Bouman with 2:6 and 4:6.
In addition, it reached 1921 and 1927 the doubles final at the Wimbledon Championships.
