Iridocyclitis
Iridocyclitis a is a form of inflammation of the iris and the ciliary body. A iridocyclitis may often have internal medicine causes that require further clarification. Inflammation can lead to cataracts (cataract ) or glaucoma ( glaucoma).
Causes
Causes of iridocyclitis are, inter alia:
- Infection with gonorrhea, herpes simplex virus or herpes zoster
- Direct contact with chemicals
- Juvenile idiopathic arthritis
- Sarcoidosis
- Because Crohn's
- Sjogren's Syndrome
- Ankylosing spondylitis
- Heerfordt syndrome
- Inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease
Symptoms
Signs of iridocyclitis are:
- Eye pain
- Photophobia
- Miosis ( Reizmiosis )
- Blurred vision due to clouding of the vitreous body or of the aqueous humor
- Sluggish pupillary response
- Color change of the pupil
- Protein deposits in the cornea
- Adhesions ( synechiae ) between the cornea and iris.
Therapy
For the therapy of a wide position ( mydriasis) of the iris using Atropintropfen anti-inflammatory drugs ( corticosteroids) and an antibiotic can be used. As low also dry heat ( red light) has been established.
