Irina Kuhnt

Irina Kuhnt ( born January 18, 1968 in Bad Harzburg, after marriage Irina Volkert ) is a former German hockey player and Olympian.

Irina Kuhnt started her career at Eintracht Braunschweig, where she reached the second place in 1986 at the German field hockey championship. After her move to Berlin HC 1994 and 1996 she won the German championship in field hockey in the hall, she was successful in 1995 and 1996.

1988 won Irina Kuhnt at the European Junior Championships, 1989, she was Junior World Champion. In 1987 debuted the defensive player of the German national hockey team and was part of the winning team at the European Indoor Championships, 1990 and 1992, she won this title again. On the field, the team reached after the eighth place finish at the 1990 World Cup second place in the European Championship 1991. At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona Kuhnt was in all five games there and won the silver medal after the 1-2 defeat against Spain. This was followed by the fourth place at the World Championships in 1994 and bronze at the European Championships in 1995. During their second at the Olympics in Atlanta in 1996, the German team came in sixth. Overall, Irina Kuhnt worked from 1987 to 1996 in 147 international matches with which 9 are in the hall.
