Iris von Arnim

Iris von Arnim ( born January 25, 1945 in Berbisdorf, Silesia ) is a German fashion designer.

Life

In the early 1970s began Iris von Arnim after a serious car accident at the hospital to knit. Was a business idea from the pastime. In 1976 she moved from Munich to Hamburg and opened a boutique. 1979 her son Valentin was born. In the same year von Arnim showed her collection for the first time on the Igedo in Dusseldorf. In the early 1980s they enriched the German knitwear market with inlays and color combinations and was one of the first designers who brought cashmere wool to Germany. In the press she was therefore referred to as " Cashmere Queen". Since the early 1990s, she supplemented her knitwear collection by a thematically tailored clothing.

It supplies approximately 200 customers worldwide, can produce in Italy and has got its own stores in Munich, Vienna and in Kampen Sylt. The designer lives in Hamburg. She is Chairperson of the Jury of the European Young Designers Competition Apolda European Design Award.

In early 2006, joined Valentin von Arnim, her son, joined the company. Since 2009 he is Managing Director and now heads the operational business.

In 2010, Iris von Arnim and Claudia Schiffer formed a partnership for the development of Claudia Schiffer Cashmere Collection. Schiffer took over the creative direction, von Arnim product development, production and worldwide distribution. The two partners worked together successfully for 2 seasons.

In April 2011, the Order of Merit of the Free State of Thuringia was awarded for its commitment to the jury of the European Design Awards Apolda and thus for the region Apolda von Arnim.

In November 2012 Iris von Arnim opened a store in Munich, which is located right in the center on Amiraplatz. In June 2013, the new opening and enlargement of the Iris von Arnim Stores in Kampen on Sylt followed, which has existed since the late 90s.

In July 2013, the Iris von Arnim was launched online store.

In August 2013, the Designer Iris von Arnim presented its first menswear collection called Iris von Arnim UOMO. The collection consists of 15 different models, ranging from finely knitted hoodies to thick hand-knitted sweaters and cardigans that are characterized primarily by details and knitting architectures.

A short time later, in October 2013, Iris von Arnim opened a temporary store in the heart of Vienna, at the farmers market 1, in which the current collection is available.
