Geography
The Samtgemeinde Isenbuttel is on Pape Teicher plateau between the resin and the heath and joins the northwest of the city of Wolfsburg. Neighboring towns are Gifhorn, Wolfsburg and Braunschweig.
Waters
In the north of the velvet municipality of Allerkanal flows in an east -west direction. There are also several smaller streams that have their source in the integrated municipality or transit through these on their way. These are the secret of the vineyard, with its tributaries, the mill Riede, the Rötgesbütteler Riede and full büttel Riede.

Demographic data
After the Lower Saxony State Office for Statistics lived 2005 in Samtgemeinde Isenbuttel 15,537 people in 4491 buildings with a total of 6293 apartments with an average area of 44.6 m per person. Since the founding of the velvet municipality, the population grew steadily, both by a positive natural population development as well as by a positive migration balance. 23.1 % of the population in 2005 were under 18 years old, 7.80 % from 18 to 25 31.40% between 25 and 45, 24.50 % between 45 and 64, and 13.10% were 65 years old or older. The unemployment rate averaged 7.7 % (men 6.1%, women: 10.1%). 5619 people regularly commute from the Samtgemeinde out in 1053.
History
The Samtgemeinde Isenbuttel was formed in 1974 as part of the Lower Saxony government reform.
Policy
From the last local elections in 2006, the following composition of Samtgemeinde Council gave ( in brackets the results of the year 2001):
- CDU: 45.90 % ( 50.42 %), 14 seats (16 seats)
- SPD: 41.56 % ( 36.91 % ), 12 seats ( 11 seats )
- FDP: 4.56% ( 3.83% ), 1 seat ( 1 seat)
- UWG: 5.64% ( 3.12% ), 2 seats ( 1 seat)
- Plagge: 2.35% ( 5.72% ), 1 seat ( 1 seat)
The turnout was 52.99 %. Also voting member of the Council is the directly elected mayor Samtgemeinde. The independent Hans -Friedrich Metzlaff gained in a runoff election this office with 60.2 % of votes. The turnout was 35.58 %.
