Ishikari Subprefecture
Ishikari (Jap.石 狩 振兴 局, Ishikari - Shinko - kyoku ) is a sub-prefecture of Hokkaido Prefecture. It has an area of 3539.84 km ² and a population of 2,310,001 (as of October 1, 2005 ).
In the sub-prefecture of the Ishikari Shikotsu- Toya National Park in the south and the Shokambetsu - Teuri - Yagishiri quasi - national park located in the north.
History
The sub-prefecture was established in 1897 under the name of sub-prefecture Sapporo (札幌 支 庁, Sapporo shicho ). In 1922 it was renamed the sub-prefecture Ishikari (石 狩 支 庁, Ishikari - shicho ) with reference to the province of Ishikari. In 1975, the district Tarukawa (樽 川 地区, chiku ) incorporated to Otaru in the sub-prefecture Shiribeshi and thus reduced the sub-prefecture.
In the reorganization of Hokkaidō April 1, 2010 renaming in Ishikari - Shinko - kyoku was.

Reclassifications
- On 1 October 2005, the villages in the district Atsuta Atsuta and Hamamasu were incorporated in the district Hamamasu in Ishikari. Both counties were thereupon be dissolved.

In Sapporo are the Okadama airport for domestic flights in Chitose and the New Chitose Airport for international flights.
