Isidoro de María

Isidoro de María Gómez ( born January 2, 1815 in Montevideo, Uruguay; † August 16, 1906 ) was an Uruguayan writer, journalist, educator and politician.

He was born the son of the Italian Juan María de María and María Luisa Gómez from Argentina in Montevideo. Here he first attended the Escuela Lancasteriana. From 1829 he worked as a printer in the Government Printing Office. Later he founded the newspaper El Constitucional (1838-1846), which dealt with political issues, and was Vice-Consul in Argentina Gualeguaychú.
