Iskandar Safa

Iskandar Safa ( born 1952 in Beirut ) is a French businessman of Lebanese origin.

Safas family are Maronite Christians. He studied at the American University in Beirut. During the Lebanese civil war Safa was wounded by shot in the stomach. His father earned wealth through business in Saudi Arabia. Safas personal fortune is estimated at USD 520 million, that he is one of the 50 richest people of Arab descent. Safas primary residences are Paris and Mandelieu -La Napoule on the French Rivera.

1993 to 2007 he was the owner of the French shipyard CMN ( Construction mecaniques de Normandie) through its holding Privinvest he owned with his brother Akram Safa. Following the acquisition of CMN he was able to raise orders from the Emirati Navy for the construction of six warships for CMN. In 2007, he brought a CMN in the Emirati Holding Abu Dhabi Mar. Safa was awarded on Privinvest a 30% shareholder share of Abu Dhabi Mar. This has taken the shipyards HDW - German shipyard, Nobis and shares in ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems ( TKMS ) 2010. Safa is considered the driving force in Abu Dhabi Mar.
