Ä°skele District

The district İskele, Turkish İskele Ilcesi, is one of five districts of the internationally unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the north- east of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. Its main town is İskele ( Trikomo ). He is the population ( 2006: 22,090 inhabitants ) to the smallest district of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The area of present-day district belonged to the district of Famagusta before 1974, and still are after Cypriot view today. It includes the long peninsula Karpas, the tip of the Cape St. Andreas ( Zafer Burnu ), the number of small uninhabited islands are offshore forms. The peninsula is about 80 km long and 10 km wide. It is regarded as economically retarded. The main town in the district is Rizokarpaso ( Dipkarpaz ).
