Ismaël Ferroukhi

Ismaël Ferroukhi ( born June 26, 1962 in Kenitra ) is a French- Moroccan film director.

Life and work

Ferroukhi was born in 1962 in Morocco and grew up in a small town in the south of France.

In 1993 he turned L' exposé, with which he was awarded the Prix SACD and the Prix Kodak for the best short film at Cannes and also the audience and jury at the National Film Festival of Tangier ( Morocco) was able to convince.

A second short film, L' inconnu, was created in 1996 ( with Catherine Deneuve ).

Ismaël Ferroukhi has also worked as a screenwriter, co-author of three films by Cédric Kahn: Trop de bonheur (1994 ), Culpabilité zéro (1996) and L' avion ( 2004).

The Great Journey

The film The Great Journey (Arabic ألرحلة ألكبرى, actually "The biggest travel " ) is about an odd couple ( a young Frenchman of Moroccan descent and his religious father), which go on to Mecca ( hajj ) and on their journey at the same time the city and himself are getting closer.
