Ismael Sarmiento

José Ismael Sarmiento Riano (born 15 July 1973) is a Colombian road cyclist.

José Ismael Sarmiento began his professional career in 1997 at the Colombian cycling team Lotería de Boyaca. In his second year there he won the overall classification of the Vuelta a Guatemala and the Vuelta de Higuito for each. In the 2001 season he won the Vuelta a Cundinamarca. 2002 Sarmiento won at the Pan Championships silver medal in the road race. When Clasica Internacional Ciudad de Anapoima he won the 2002 and 2003 depending on a stage and so could the Appreciation decide for themselves. He also was the 2003 First Appreciation at the Clasica de Fusagasuga. 2004 Sarmiento won a stage of the Vuelta a Colombia and 2005, the Appreciation of the Vuelta a Boyaca. In the Clásico RCN he won two stages in 2006 and 2007, a portion for themselves. At the Tour de la Guadeloupe in 2009 he was successful with his team USL Only the team time trial.
