İsmet Atlı

Ismet Atli (* 1931 in Çukurören, † April 4, 2014 in Kozan ) was a Turkish wrestler. He was 1960 Olympic champion in the light heavyweight division.

Career

Ismet Atli grew up in Adana and soon came to wrestle. Throughout his career, Necati Tokbudak, Nuri Boytorun, Yasar Dogu and Celal Atik were his coach. 1951 began his international career, which lasted until 1962 and the Olympic gold medal in Rome in 1960 reached its climax. After ending his playing days, he worked as a trainer in Turkey. On April 4, 2014 Atli died in a hospital of Kozan.
