İsmet Özel

İsmet Özel ( born September 19, 1944 in Kayseri ) is a Turkish poet and essayist.

Life

Özel is the sixth child of a police officer from Soke. He attended primary and secondary school in Kastamonu, Çankırı and Ankara. In 1962 he began his studies at the Faculty of Ankara University policy, which he did not lead to an end. In the meantime, he worked for various trade unions and closed 1977, a study of French Language and Literature at Hacettepe University from. He later founded the publishing Cidam. From 1980 until his retirement in 1998 he was a lecturer in French at the Istanbul State Conservatory and at the Mimar Sinan University. His mission Ismet Özel'le basbasa ( Face to face with Ismet Özel ) at the TV station Channel 7 themed artistic, political and social problem areas.

In 1985, Ismet Ozel of the Association of Turkish writer named the essayists of the year 1985 we awarded him with the Gabriela Mistral Prize.

Ismet Özel lives in Istanbul.

Work

Ismet Özels first poem Yorgun ( Exhausted ) was published in 1963 in the journal Yelken. Although his poems remain formally true of modernity, but are distinguished by their expressivity. After the military coup of 1971, Özel, who had previously been close to the radical left and the socialist realism changed, the Islamic intellectuals and poets and had this attitude in his lyrics incorporated.
