Iso Camartin

Iso Camartin ( born March 24, 1944 in Chur ) is a Swiss journalist, writer and television presenter.

Life

Iso Camartin grew up in Disentis, where he attended the convent school. From 1965 he studied Philosophy and Romance in Munich, Bologna and Regensburg; he received his doctorate in 1971 on Kant and Fichte. From 1974 to 1977 he worked as a Research Fellow at the " Center for European Studies " at Harvard University. In addition to his journalistic work, he held teaching positions at various Swiss universities.

From 1985 to 1997 he was Professor of Romansh literature and culture at the ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich. In the academic year 1989/1990 Carmartin Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study Berlin. Between 1996 and 1998 he was also a presenter of Auspicious Art on SF 1 From 2000 to 2003 he headed the Department of Culture, Swiss Television. Since then he has worked as a freelance publicist and writer. In 2005 he gave the opening speech for the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize in Klagenfurt.

Iso Camartin is a member of DASD and the Writers' Association authors of Switzerland. He lives in Zurich.
