Isofoton

Isofotón Spain's biggest producer of solar cells and modules and an international company with about 770 employees, which is one of the pioneers of the solar industry. The company is based in Madrid covers the complete value chain in photovoltaics and solar thermal. Ranging from cell production and module production to installation of turnkey systems by partner Isofotón accompanied the entire process.

History

Isofotón was founded in 1981 as a spin -off of a university project by Antonio Luque López, director of the Institute of Solar Energy at the University of Madrid. He is considered a pioneer in the solar industry and focused on the industrial production of solar cells. 1986 was the first module from tape and the first plant was connected to the network. The company was involved in the research and development of still applied today foundations for the solar industry. In 2006, Juan Carlos I, King of Spain, the production of Isofotón in Málaga as one of the most highly automated factories in operation. The company sells its products in more than 60 countries and maintains offices worldwide. 2010, the export rate of Isofotón more than 90 percent. The main export markets are Italy and Germany. Since June 2010 Isofotón has a new owner with the consortium Affirma - Toptec.

In early February 2013 were asked a forced request of a group of suppliers, employees and ex- employees to bankruptcy resolution. A few days before the company had already announced the dismissal of 380 employees in Malaga.

Technologies and products

Isofotón is a manufacturer of photovoltaic cells and modules on monocrystalline base. Since 2010, HCPV modules are part of the product portfolio. Commitment

Isofotón supports the achievement of the UN Millennium Development Goals ( Millennium Development Goals ), which were fixed in 2000 for 2015 and include, among other things, the objective of environmental sustainability. Signed in 2002 Isofotón the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 1999 initiated the Global Compact of the United Nations (Global Compact). This pact was concluded between the UN and business enterprises to make globalization more socially and environmentally.
