Isoxys is a genus of uncertain position within the arthropods ( Arthropoda ).
Features
Isoxys had a non-mineralized head shield with flexible lateral Pleuralfalten which the body almost completely covered, globular eyes and a pair of limbs with thick spiny outgrowths at their front edges. The following 13 limbs had a zweiästige shape with paddle-like limbs. This was followed by Telson with side flaps, which towered over the rear edge of the head shield out.
In part, also the gut have been received: he was tube- like and ran from the mouth to the telson and was flanked by paired bulbous structures, which are believed to digestive glands.
Way of life
The genus was present only in tropical and subtropical areas. Due to the morphology of the telson and the paddle-like limbs on the thorax keeping Isoxys for a swimmer. The large eyes allowed an almost 360 -degree views, which was useful for hunting and for protection from predators. Also to protect the body almost completely covers Pleuralfalten served.
Locations
The genus Isoxys was world found in Cambrian fossil deposits: in North America ( Burgess Shale, Sirius Passet, Langston Formation, Chilhowee ), South Australia ( Emu Bay Shale ), China ( Kaili Formation, Chengjiang ), Siberia, southern France and Spain. Due to the numerous incidents make one includes a large area of distribution of Isoxys during the Cambrian.
System
