Israeli presidential election, 1978
The presidential election in Israel in 1978 was held in the Knesset on 19 April 1978. Ephraim Katzir, who was elected president in 1973, had a second term of office rejected that because of the illness of his wife. The only candidate for the office of president was Yitzhak Navon.
Results
Navons term of office began on the day of his election. Navon remained president until 1983, he was replaced by Chaim Herzog.
