Israir Airlines

Israir (Hebrew: ישראייר ) is a private Israeli aviation and tourism company based in Tel Aviv.

History

The company was founded in 1989 under the name Kanfei HaEmek ( Emek Wings ). It was renamed Israir 1996 and started in 1999 with international flights. The Gandon Group is the sole owner of the airline, which for the first time operated the flight from Tel Aviv to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York as a charter flight in June 2004. As Israir has been recognized as a regular airline to court, they could offer these flights in line service, but they have been since been reinstated.

Objectives

Israir leads domestic flights from Ben Gurion Airport to Haifa and Eilat by. Internationally, the company also flies from Tel Aviv to Berlin at present, Memmingen, Moscow, Munich, Rome and Nice, and also leads by charter. Long-haul flights are not currently offered regularly.

Trivia

  • Israir is the SkyTorah a Torah scroll on the plane for Orthodox Jewish customers.
  • Israir offers despite religious commandments, and in contrast to most Israeli airline El Al flights on Saturdays also.
