Istanbul Province

Istanbul (Turkish: İstanbul ) is a Turkish province in the northwest of the country, with the capital İstanbul. Its area is 5343.02 km ².

The official population of the Istanbul province was, according to census of 2009 12.915.158, of which the city of Istanbul, the area with the province of Istanbul is almost identical, but had 12,782,960 inhabitants.
