Istithmar World

The Istithmar World (Arabic for investment ) is an investment company based in Dubai, belongs entirely to Dubai World and is considered a private equity arm of the sovereign wealth fund of the United Arab Emirates.

The company was founded in 2003 under the name of Istithmar, renamed Istithmar World 2008 and is involved with worldwide investments in different industries, worth several billion dollars. In addition to financial services, trade, industry and real estate also includes the Canadian acrobats of Cirque du Soleil.

During the reorganization of Dubai World, which was exposed end in 2009 financial difficulties, some investments of the parent company were transferred to Isthitmar World, in particular the Dubai World Africa, with mainly focused on tourism investments.

Since the departure of David Jackson as CEO in early 2010 leads Andy Watson, the former Chief Investment Officer of Nakheel, the shops.
