Istrian Y

As Istrian Y (Croatian Istrian ipsilon ) refers to the system of highways in the Croatian part of Istria. The system consists of two highway connections that unite at Kanfanara. Thus arises on the map a Wye form. The highways on the Istrian Peninsula are managed by the private operating company Bina - Istra.

The Istrian Ypsilon includes the following highways:

  • A9: Umag Pula ( 80 km)

The A9 runs from the Slovenian border in the north to Umag and Poreč to Pula, which is close to the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula. The A8 runs in east-west direction from the A9 to Rijeka. The intersection of the two compounds is Kanfanara, it is clear on the map the Y-shaped.

On the A9 between Umag and Kanfanara the expansion for continuous four-lane route on 13 June 2011 have been completed. Exceptions are the toll Mirna Bridge and the Lim - Draga Viaduct. The A9 between Kanfanara and Pula is widened to four lanes. The still unfinished in many areas A8 between Kanfanara and Matulji performs topographically demanding than the A9 area, including through the Učka tunnel.
