István Gaál
István Gaál ( born August 25, 1933 Salgótarján, † September 25, 2007 Budapest) was a Hungarian film director.
Life
István Gaál learned the profession of electrical engineer before studying at the Academy of Film Art in Budapest and the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. The central theme of his films is the conflict between the individual and society. "He's trained in documentary film, so that he succeed in his movies authentic pictures of social reality. " At the International Film Festival of Cannes in 1970 Gaál won with Magasiskola the Jury Prize.
