István Orosz

István Orosz ( born October 24, 1951 in Kecskemét ) is a Hungarian painter, graphic artist and character animator.

Biography

After studying graphic design at the Academy of Applied Arts in Budapest, which he graduated in 1975, he began to deal with stage design and animation. Since 1975 he is also active as a film director. Later, when his interest turned to the poster, he first designed mainly posters for theater performances, movie theaters and exhibitions. He then, during the political changes in Eastern Europe with several political posters played at the end of the 80s, an active role. His posters, illustrations and posters have brought István Orosz a worldwide reputation. It deals with the possibilities of the perspective view and leads to an illusionist approach, the visual paradox in mind. He addresses the issue of anamorphosis and impressed the audience with his outstanding and innovative works of art. He follows the best traditions of printing techniques, using woodcut and etching. He regularly takes part in the most important international Biennalia the poster and graphic art. He had participated in numerous solo exhibitions in prestigious museums and galleries abroad as in Hungary and has his works in hundreds of group exhibitions.

István Orosz also used the stage name ΟΥΤΙΣ ( Utisz ). This was the name of Homer's hero, Odysseus, the Cyclops on the question ' Who are you? ' called it. ' Utisz ', that is ' No ,' was the deceptive answer. Odysseus blinded the Cyclops, then, whose single eye burning out. A poster is how the fact Odysseus ', an attack on the eye - says the artist.
