Isyllus

The poet Isyllos (Greek Ἴσυλλος ) of Epidaurus is the creator of Epidaurian Asklepios mythology. He lived in the second half of the 4th century BC

From Isyllos is on a single inscription ( IG IV 128 I ², ) received a number of poems. Your literary value is modest. It is particularly important that poem, in which he gives Asklepios a new lineage. In the older version of Apollo fathered with Coronis, daughter of King Phlegyas of Trikka (Thessaly ), Asklepios. Even during pregnancy Koronis Apollon has cheated, kills them and the child Asclepius rescues. In Isyllos Zeus is the Muse Erato at Malos, whose daughter Kleophema with Phlegyas, here a king of Epidaurus, the daughter Aigle ( called Koronis ) testifies. In this fallen Apollo and Asklepios testifies to her.

The new mythology to the ( elsewhere in the poem of Isyllos postulated ) underpin priority of Asclepius cult of Epidauros over that of Trikka.
