iSync

ISync is a program that is part of the operating system Mac OS X from Apple. It has the task of addresses, appointments, and other data that have been created with the programs iCal and Address Book to keep different between ( several ) digital devices in sync. It works with various mobile phones as well as together with Palm OS-based PDAs.

Officially, only Palm Inc. devices from the Tungsten or Zire series are supported. In practice, however, most PDAs with Palm OS can be used as of version 4.0, partly with separately available plugins.

In previous versions of iSync was also responsible for updating address book and calendar data on the iPod. However, since these data on the iPod can not be changed and it is so is not a sync, but simply a copy operation, this function from iSync 2.3 and iTunes 6 was shifted to the iTunes program. Thus, the data on the iPod can be updated separately, without at the same time to update all other devices.

About the paid MobileMe service also were different Macs ( and Windows systems with appropriate client software) are compared over the Internet. This could still additional data, such as Safari bookmarks and Apple -mail messages, are transferred. MobileMe replaced on 10 July 2008. Mac.

With the release of Mac OS 10.7 the delivery of the program was discontinued.
