The IT University of Copenhagen is a Danish globally oriented, independent university.

The IT University of Copenhagen was founded under the name IT College in 1999. With the adoption of the Danish Universities Act of 2003, the institution was officially transformed into a university, the twelfth and smallest in Denmark, and it was the name change in IT University of Copenhagen - 'The IT University of Copenhagen ' in English.

In 2004 entered the University of their new building in the Ørestad district of Copenhagen, next to the humanistic faculty of the University of Copenhagen and the new main building of the Danish Radio and Television Corporation DR The new building was designed by the Danish architect Henning Larsen.

Initially, the university offered only master's degree programs that required a bachelor's degree. In August 2007, the first time an undergraduate degree program in software engineering was offered. Since 2010 run at the IT University each semester three bachelor's degree programs (including one globally oriented in English ), four master's degree programs ( of which 2 are globally oriented in English ), four professional master's degree programs, a diploma program and about 100 individual subjects.

The above only one faculty operative IT University is concerned with the interdisciplinary study of computer science and chooses the most different approaches for this: natural sciences (traditional computer science ), software development, computer-aided cooperation, design and use of IT, e-business, computer game studies, as well as social, cultural and aesthetic aspects of computer science.

In addition to the 40 academic staff, the University has 50 PhD students and more than 2,000 students. In addition, the University are connected numerous external lecturers.

Administration and Organization

The IT University is governed by a nine-member advisory board: the five outside the university recruited members of the Board represent the majority, a member elected by the academic staff and one from the technical and administrative staff of the university, while two members of be selected the students. The Rector is elected by the council.

Research

The stated goal of the University research is to promote the IT-enabled value creation in Denmark. New research will provide the basis for new types of interaction, new breakthroughs of digital culture, better resource optimization and technological innovations, among others form. Important part of the research is our Ph.D. program. The IT University annually attracts highly qualified Ph.D. students from all over the world. When working on their research projects to develop their research skills and the development of international networks, these students work closely with the faculty.
