Italian General Confederation of Labour
The Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro ( CGIL ) is a national trade union federation in Italy. It was founded in June 1944 by the unification of Socialists, Communists and Christian Democrats, laid down in the so-called Treaty of Rome.
She has more than 5 million members, of whom about 2.3 million are active.
The CGIL is a member of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions and the European Trade Union Confederation and the Trade Union Advisory Committee, a Trade Union Advisory Committee to the OECD.
