Italian Riviera

Italian Riviera called the Ligurian coast. It stretches from the French border to the foothills of Tuscany, along the Gulf of Genoa. The section from Genoa to Tuscany is known as the Riviera di Levante, one of Genoa to the French border as Riviera di Ponente. Together with the French Riviera ( Côte d' Azur), it forms the actual Riviera, which was the model for all other namesakes.

The Riviera is famous for its mild climate all year round and therefore an estimated holiday region. Well-known resorts in the Riviera di Ponente are Bordighera, Alassio, Diano Marina, Sanremo and Ventimiglia. Well-known resorts of the Riviera di Levante are: Portofino, Santa Margherita Ligure, Sestri Levante, Lerici, and the Cinque Terre.

In particular, the sections of the Riviera di Ponente in the area around San Remo are called because of the characteristic fields of flowers and flower markets as the Riviera dei Fiori ( Riviera ).
