Ithobaal I

Eth Ba ʿ al, also Ittobaal was 887-856 BC, King of Sidon. He belonged to the priestly elite of the city, and possibly the dynasty of Hiram I.. The account in the Book first, according to the kings he was father of the Israelite King Ahab, who was married to his daughter Jezebel.

More recent research according to which he was also king of Tyre. He is said to have made at Ashur - nasir - apli II Tribute. Inscriptions on its banquet stele also suggest that Eth Ba ʾ al was among the invited guests at the official opening of the new palace in Kalhu.
