Ivan Aksakov

Ivan Sergeyevich Aksakow (Russian: Иван Сергеевич Аксаков, scientific transliteration Ivan Sergeevič Aksakov; * 26 Septemberjul / October 8 1823greg in Nadeschdino, Ufa province, .. .. † 27 Januarjul / February 8 1886greg in Moscow) was a Russian writer and influential Slavophile. He was the son of the writer Sergei Aksakow and younger brother of Konstantin Aksakow.

Ivan Aksakow took part in the Crimean War. During the Russo- Ottoman war he spread in the press the idea of Pan-Slavism. Dmitri Sviatopolk - Mirsky described him as the most important Russian journalists, according to Alexander Herzen. Aksakow also wrote the first biography of his father, the Slavophile poet Fyodor Tjuttschew.
