Ivan Albright
Ivan Le Lorraine Albright ( born February 20, 1897 in North Harvey in Chicago, Illinois, † November 18, 1983 in Woodstock, Vermont, USA ) was an American painter of magic realism.
- It matters little Whether I paint a squash, a striped herring, or a man ( It almost does not matter whether I paint a pumpkin plant, a striped herring or a human).
Life
Ivan Le Lorraine Albright was the son of the painter Adam Emory Albright (1862-1958) and Clara Wilson Albright ( 1862-1939 ). He and his twin brother Malvin Marr Albright (1897 - ) and their older brother Lisle Albright Murillo ( 1892-1958 ) received as a middle name, the names of famous painters. With one of his most famous works, the image of The Temptation of Saint Anthony (1944 /45), he finished 2nd in the Bel -Ami Competition.
