Ivan Doronin

Captain Ivan Vasilyevich Doronin (Russian: Иван Васильевич Доронин; * 22 Apriljul / May 5 1903greg in Kmenka, now Saratov Oblast, .. † February 2nd 1951 in Moscow) was a Soviet aircraft pilot and was on April 20, 1934 Hero of the Soviet Union appointed.

Ivan Doronin had in 1920 volunteered for naval fleet and immediately visited the Seefliegerschule in Leningrad. He finished his education in 1925 at the flying school in Sevastopol and then served as a naval aviator in the Black Sea fleet and as a flight instructor at the Seefliegerschule Sevastopol. 1930 moved Doronin in civil aviation to Polar Aviation ( Awiaarktika ). There he was transport pilots on the route Irkutsk - Yakutsk - Bodaibo.

1934 Doronin joined the CPSU. In the same year he was involved with his plane PS- 3 on the bailout of the castaways of Tscheljuskin expedition for which a makeshift runway had to be used on the frozen ice surface of the Chukchi Sea. For a captain of the Order of Hero of the Soviet Union he was awarded on 20 April 1934 at the range that had been donated on the occasion of this bailout.

Beginning in 1939, led the Flyers Doronin testing department in an aircraft factory. In the same year he was promoted to colonel. 1947 ended due to his illness his career.

Doronin, has twice been winner of the Lenin Order and of the Order Red Star and the Rotbannerordens.
