Ivan Fyodorov (navigator)

Ivan Fyodorov (Russian: Иван Фёдоров, † 1733) was a Russian naval officer.

Fyodorov was commander of the ship Archangel Gavriil ( Archangel Gabriel ) with the summer 1732 the surveyor Mikhail Gvozdyovs - under one of Afanasi Shestakov, and after his death in 1730 by Dimitri Pavlutski, led military expedition to Kamchatka - undertook a journey to map the Bering Strait. Fyodorov was the first navigator who reached the North American west coast from the west.

Already on embarkation in July 1732 Fyodorov was seriously ill, he died soon after returning to Kamchatka.
