Ivan Lepyokhin

Ivan Ivanovich Lepjochin (Russian: Иван Иванович Лепёхин, scientific transliteration Ivan Ivanovich Lepëchin; * Septemberjul 10 / 21 September 1740greg in Saint Petersburg, .. † 6 Apriljul / 18 April 1802greg ibid. . ) Was a Russian physician, botanist, zoologist and explorer. He traveled the coastal area between the White Sea and the Kanin Peninsula and exploring the living conditions of the population as well as the animal and plant world. His botanical author abbreviation is " Lepech. ".

The plant genera Lepechinia Willd. from the mint family ( Lamiaceae ) and Lepechiniella Popov. of the family Boraginaceae ( Boraginaceae ) have been named in his honor.
