Iván Miranda

Iván Miranda Chang ( born March 8, 1980 in Lima) is a Peruvian tennis player.

Biography

His highest placing in the ATP ranking position was 104 on 14 July 2003. He has been national champion in the men's. The Juegos Bolivarianos ( games in honor of Simón Bolívar ) 1997 in Arequipa Miranda won a silver medal in singles and a gold medal in doubles.

In 2000, he won his first Futures tournament. It was held in Lima ( Peru F3). The following year he won the tournament USA F12 ( Boca Raton ) against the Venezuelan José de Armas. In January 2002, he won the tournament USA F3 ( Hallandale Beach). Two months later, he secured his first Challengertitel ( Salinas, Ecuador). In the final he defeated Ricardo Mello. The Challengers Birmingham (off against Alex Kim), San Antonio (off against Mardy Fish ) and São Paulo -3 ( against Luis Horna from ) he came to the semifinals. In the Brazilian Challengerturnier Gramado he had merely beaten in the final Júlio Silva. In the same year he was able to qualify for a Grand Slam tournament for the first time. At the French Open but he failed already in the Sjeng Schalken first lap.

2003 could reach the final of Salinas Miranda for the second time, but lost to Giovanni Lapentti. In Andorra, he could reach the semi-finals ( From against Yeu - Tzuoo Wang ). Even the semi-finals he managed to double in St. Jean de Luz ( with Paul Baccanello ) and Bermuda ( with Dušan Vemic ). In 2004 he reached the semi-finals only Challengerturnier of Manta in singles. In that year, Miranda also won for the second time after 2001, the Peruvian tennis championship with a victory in the final against Mauricio Echazu.

He plays for the Peruvian Davis Cup team.
