Iván Nova

Iván Manuel Nova Guance ( born January 12, 1987 in San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic) is a Dominican baseball player in Major League. He currently plays for the New York Yankees as a starting pitcher.

Nova was taken by the Yankees in 2004 as a free agent under contract and used in the farm system of the club. Until the end of the 2008 season however, he was not as advanced to the Class-A Advanced Tampa Yankees club. Therefore, he could be selected in December 2008 by the San Diego Padres in the Rule 5 Draft. However, he returned at the end of Spring Training in 2009 back to the Yankees and was sent back to Double-A Trenton Thunder team, later to Triple -A team Scranton / Wilkes -Barre Yankees. He also started the 2010 season.

On 10 May 2010 he was appointed to the Major League and could reach in two games three innings without runs there. After returning from Chan Ho Park from the injured list but he was sent back to Scranton / Wilkes - Barre. Here he could with a WL of 12-3 and an ERA of 2.86 show an impressive performance. On 21 August 2010 he was re-appointed to the team the Yankees to take the position there by Javier Vázquez as Starting pitcher. His first assignment as a starting pitcher in the MLB was followed two days later. For the rest of the season, he competed in eight games, including seven as a starter.
