Ivan Slavkov

Ivan Borisov Slawkow ( Bulgarian Иван Борисов Славков; born May 11, 1940 in Sofia, Bulgaria; † May 1, 2011 ibid ), called Bateto, was a Bulgarian sports official and for many years chairman of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee and the Bulgarian Football Federation.

Ivan Slawkows father, Boris was a doctor in the Bulgarian capital. After high school, Ivan studied at the Technical University of Sofia where he played water polo in his spare time at the WK Septemwri.

Died in 1966 his then wife Svetla Marinowa in a plane crash at the age of 25 years. Later Ivan Slawkow Lyudmila Schiwkowa married and so was son of the former communist dictator Todor Zhivkov.

From 1967 to 1969 Slawkow worked as a journalist in the business section of the newspaper Trud. He was Director of the Bulgarian National Television in 1972. In the late 1970s Ivan Slawkow was director of the football club Levski Sofia, who appeared at that time under the name DFS Levski Spartak Sofia.

Slawkow from 1987 to 2005 member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC ) until he was expelled on charges of corruption. He is said to have previously told journalists who had spent in front of him as lobbyist, agreed that he would influence the IOC decision on the venue of the 2012 Olympic Games in favor of London.
