Ivan Vekić

Ivan Vekić ( born October 18, 1938) is a former Yugoslav and Croatian politicians.

He was one of the founders in 1989 of Hrvatska Demokratska zajednica (HDZ ). From July 1991 to April 1992 he was Interior Minister of Croatia, that became independent during the time in Croatia. At this time, the Home Office maintained its own paramilitary units that were involved among other things in the massacre of Gospic. In connection with the murder of the force as a moderate police chief of Osijek, Josip Reihl - Kir, Vekić was questioned in 2001 by the police.

In 2003 Vekić was expelled from the HDZ. At the parliamentary elections in Croatia in 2007 he became a candidate of the party Jedino Hrvatska - Pokret za Hrvatsku ( Only Croatia - Movement for Croatia), has become the catchment failed to parliament.

In August 2010, he announced the formation of a new party called straža Hrvatska (Croatian guard ) that is to be used among other things for the introduction of the death penalty and for a pre-military training in the schools.
