Ivan Zaytsev (volleyball)

Ivan Zaytsev ( born October 2, 1988 in Spoleto ) is an Italian volleyball player.

Career

Ivan Zaytsev is the son of Russian national player Vyacheslav Alexeyevich Zaitsev, who competed with the Soviet team three times at the Olympics in 1980 and won gold in Moscow. He was born in Spoleto, when his father was there just under contract. His own career began in 2001 at the young RPA Perugia. 2004 saw Zaytsev, who stood first as a player on the field, in the top-flight team of the club. In 2006 he moved to league rivals M. Roma Volley. After one season at Andreoli Latina 2008 he returned to Rome and was now playing on the position of the external attacker. In the same year he received the Italian citizenship and was first appointed to the national team. With the Romans, who were temporarily relegated to the second division, he managed the 2010 promotion back to the Premier League. In 2010 he played with Italy in the World Cup. The following year, he reached the final of the European Championship. 2012 won Zaytsev with the national team at the Olympic Games in London, the bronze medal. After the tournament, he moved within the league to Lube Macerata.
