Ivić Pašalić ( born November 3, 1960 in Šuica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian politician.

Life

After studying medicine at the University of Zagreb Pašalić worked as a doctor in Ivanec and Zagreb. 1989/1990 he was among the founders of the local organizations Hrvatska Demokratska zajednica ( " Croatian Democratic Union " ) in Varaždin and Ivanec. He quickly rose to the Secretary General of the party. Added to this was his role as a domestic policy adviser to the Croatian president Franjo Tuđman. After Tuđman 's death and the defeat of the HDZ in the parliamentary elections in 2000 came to an open slugfest between the new HDZ - Chairman Ivo Sanader and Ivić Pašalić. After the violent intra-party dispute since the independence of Croatia in 1995 sat ultimately Sanader with the support of, inter alia, by Branimir Glavaš.

After Pašalić Sanader accused of illegal means, which, however, did not confirm Pašalić founded the pravaški Hrvatski blok ( Croatian Block). However, after it became clear that this party would not long be as popular as the HDZ, the most followers applied again to the former and the HB remained without a seat in Parliament.

Pašalić candidate for the 2005 presidential election and came in seventh place.
