Ivo Angelov

Iwo Serafimov Angelov ( Bulgarian Иво Ангелов; * October 15, 1984 in Pernik ) is a Bulgarian wrestler. It was 2013 European Champion in Greco-Roman featherweight.

Career

Iwo Angelov began as a teenager in 1997 when Ringer club in Lovech with the rings and later moved to the Bulgarian top club Liteks - Slavia Sofia. He is or has been trained by Stojan Dobrew and Bratan Tsenow. It focuses on the Greco-Roman style, is relatively light and therefore struggles bantamweight or featherweight. It starts in the German Bundesliga for TuS Adelhausen.

Iwo Angelov took for the first time in 2000, participated in an international championship. He finished at the Junior Europameisterscdhaft ( Cadets ) in Bratislava in the weight class up to 42 kg the 4th Place. For winning medals he did not come in junior age at international championships. Anders was in the seniors, because here he won in his first start in an international championship in 2005 at the European Championships in Varna in the bantamweight title with victories over Khayal Hasanow from Azerbaijan, Thomas Röthlisberger from Switzerland and Kristijan Term, Serbia and defeat to Viktor Korabljew from Russia a bronze medal. The same medal he won at the 2009 European Championship in Vilnius at featherweight. Here he triumphed over Krisztian hunters from Hungary, Håkan Nyblom from Denmark and Fuad Aliyev of Azerbaijan and lost only against Edward Barsegjan from Poland. In 2009 he started for the first time at a World Cup. But in Herning / Denmark he reached featherweight after a victory over Jansel Ramirez, Dominican Republic and a defeat against Omid Haji Noroozi, Iran only the 17th Place.

In 2010, he came at the European Championships in Baku after a surprise defeat against Söner sucu from Romania on the 10th Place. Better he cut at the World Championships this year in Moscow, for he came there after a victory over Jansel Ramirez, a defeat against Hassan Aliyev, Azerbaijan, victories over Tonimir Sokol, Croatia and Ruslan Tjumenbajew, Kyrgyzstan and a defeat against Almat Kebispajew, Kazakhstan, a good 5th place. The next medal he won then at the European Championship 2011 in Dortmund. There he came up with victories over Mustafa Saglam, Turkey, Albert Baghumjan Agharzarjan, Spain, Erik White, Germany and Istvan Kozak, Hungary in the final, in which he, however, was defeated by Revaz Laschchi from Georgia. A medal he won at the World Championships 2011 in Istanbul. He lost there though like his first fight against Almat Kebispajew, but then secured with wins over Ruslan Tjumenbajew, Carl Anders Ekström, Denmark and Luis Ignacio Liendo, Venezuela, still a bronze medal. With this medal, he secured even a place at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

2012 won Iwo Angelov in Belgrade with wins over Eusebiu Diaconu, Romania, Aslan Abdullina, Russia, Irakli Chochua, Georgia and Kamran Mammadow, Azerbaijan and a defeat in the final against Istvan Levai, Slovakia, again a silver medal at the European Championships. In the Olympics, he was able to dream of a medal despite good fights do not meet. He came there to a victory over Ellis Coleman, United States, then lost to Omid Noroozi, triumphed over Sheng Jiang, China and lost in his second consolation round battle against his nemesis Almat Kebispajew, reaching the 7th Place.

In March 2013 he was finally able to then win his first title at an international championship. He was in Tbilisi with wins over Lorenzo Gentile, Italy, Kamran Mammadow, Maksim Kacharski, Belarus and Ivan Kujlakow, Russia, European Champion.
