IWork is an office suite by Apple for Mac OS X and Apple iOS. It contains the word processing program pages, the presentation program Keynote and Numbers spreadsheet program.

IWork stepped up to the outdated and only makeshift ported as carboxylic program on Mac OS X AppleWorks, which is no longer supported by Apple. A new office package as the successor to AppleWorks had previously been long awaited. However, Apple chose not to commonly expected name iWorks, but the name of iWork, which sounds in English like "I work" ( German: " I work "). iWork was formerly the name of a program for time recording and invoicing until Apple acquired the rights to the name.

The iWork package is not labeled with version numbers, but given the two-digit year as the version number, since the individual programs are in different generations version. The current version is called " iWork '09". Since January 2009, iWork is also bundled with Mac OS X and iLife at discounted prices.

With iWork.com, Apple introduced beyond an internet based supplements for iWork available with which one could look at documents with other people and comment. iWork.com is set 31 July 2012 as part of the transition to iCloud.

On 31 May 2011 also a version (Apple iPhone 4, Apple iPhone 3GS, Apple iPod touch 3rd and 4th generation) was presented for the Apple mobile devices.

During the WWDC 2013 Apple introduced the beta version of iWork version with which you can edit iWork komatible formats directly in a web browser.

On October 22, 2013, Apple introduced new versions of iWork, which have a less cluttered user interface, and the latest versions of OS X ( 10.9/Mavericks ) and iOS (iOS 7 ) are adapted. For example, the cooperation of a plurality of persons has been introduced. A document can be edited simultaneously by multiple people. The functionality of the programs, however, was significantly reduced.

Apple also announced on September 12, 2013, to all owners of a new iOS device ( purchased after September 1 ) to give the iWork package. On 22 October it was announced to give iWork to all owners of new Macs ( purchased from 1 October 2013).
