Izberbash

Isberbasch (Russian Избербаш ) is a city in the southern Russian republic of Dagestan with 55 646 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located on the northeast edge of the Great Caucasus about 60 km south-east of the Republic capital Makhachkala on the Caspian Sea.

The city lies on the opened on this section in 1900 main line of the North Caucasus Railway Rostov - Makhachkala - Baku ( 2347 line kilometers from Moscow). By Isberbasch the M29 highway Rostov -on-Don leads - Azerbaijani border.

History

1932 was built near the old village Isberbasch in connection with the development of an oil field, a working class neighborhood of the same name, which received city rights in 1949. The place name is on track for about Kumyk on the head, or trace of a head on the mountain.

The main business of the city is a work for electric furnaces. There are also companies in the building materials industry and the food industry.
