Izo Hashimoto

Izo Hashimoto (Japanese以 蔵 桥本, Hashimoto Izo; born February 21, 1954 in Shimane Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese screenwriter, film director and comic book writer.

Hashimoto announced in 1982 his directorial debut with the film Isami. He wrote in the 1980s, the screenplays for several feature films as well as anime series and movies. Best known is his collaboration with Katsuhiro Otomo on the screenplay for the animated film Akira (1988).

Since 1998, Akio Tanaka is characterized by a history of Hashimoto's manga series Shamo. The main character in the manga brings 16 years by his parents and after a stay in the youth prison a famous martial artist. Shamo, which is translated into Spanish, English and German, was nominated in two categories at the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d' Angoulême 2003 for the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize - and 2005.

2000 wrote Hashimoto Takashi Miike's screenplay for the film The Guys from Paradise - The Hell of Manila.
