J. Christopher Flowers

James Christopher Flowers, known as J. Christopher Flowers, ( born October 27, 1957 in Wayland, Massachusetts ) is an American investment banker and billionaire. He is the founder and owner of J. C. Flowers & Company.

Life

Flowers was born the son of a librarian and an Executive Director of the Harvard Business School. After completing his studies in applied mathematics at Harvard Business School, he started with 21 years at the investment bank Goldman Sachs a meteoric career. At 28, he was head of department in advising on acquisitions in the financial industry. In 1988, he was 31 the youngest partner in the history of the investment bank. In 1998, he left Goldman Sachs and became self-employed as a private equity business. Flowers is married and has two children. His wife Mary White has worked as a doctor at Sloan -Kettering Cancer Institute.

The family lives on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

With an estimated net worth of approximately U.S. $ 2 billion it was in 2008 at No. 605 in the Forbes list of the richest people. 2003 donated Flowers and his wife, a professor at Harvard University, named after Flowers' parents; Chair is the chemist George Whitesides. 2006 was one of the couple Flowers to donors who founded the 50 million dollar Professorship Challenge Fund, to promote the more endowed chairs for Harvard.
