J. Frank Aldrich

James Franklin "Frank" Aldrich ( born April 6, 1853 in Two Rivers, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, † March 8, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1895 and 1897 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Frank Aldrich was the son of Congressman William Aldrich ( 1820-1885 ). In 1861 he came with his parents to Chicago, where he attended the public schools and later the University of Chicago. Then he studied until 1877 at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy (New York). He later linseed ago. He also went into the gas business. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1886 and 1888 he was a member of the District Council in Cook County, which he was president in 1887. This year, he also belonged to the Education Committee of this district. From 1891 to 1893 Aldrich was commissioner of the city of Chicago for public works.

In the congressional elections of 1892 Aldrich was the first electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Abner Taylor on March 4, 1893. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1897 two legislative sessions. Since 1895 he was chairman of the Committee on Accounts.

In 1896, Aldrich renounced another Congress candidate. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, he was appointed consul in Cuba. This island belonged to Spain at that time. But this office he could not compete because of the interim broken Spanish-American War. Between 1898 and 1923 he was a consultant for railway Questions ( Railroad Appraiser ). He died on 8 March 1933, Chicago.
