J. J. Dossen

James Jenkins Dossen (* 1866 in Maryland, Liberia, † August 17, 1924 in Monrovia ) was a Liberian politician and university teacher, he was from 1904 to 1912 Liberian Vice President. From 1912 to 1924 Dossen was called " Chief Justice " ( German: Chief Justice in the legal system of Liberia) worked, he was one of the most powerful and influential men of Liberia.

Biography

James Jenkins Dossen was born in 1866 in Liberian Maryland. After studying Dossen worked as a lawyer and became a member of the True Whig Party. In 1904 Dossen completed jointly with Arthur Barclay 's presidential election campaign, Barclay won and Dossen was Liberian Vice President, the successor of Joseph D. Summerville. In 1912 Dossen assumed the office of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, a position he held until his death in 1924. Even as a vice president took over Dossen teaching at Liberia College and was elected in 1913 as president of this university.
